The Exciting World of Bigfork High School Sports
by Jim Jackson
These pages are published in honor of the student athletes in our community. Regardless of their record or standing in the conference, our student athletes devote a substantial portion of their time to developing the skills and strength necessary to perfom at a competitive level.
Encouraging good sportsmanship and instilling values of teamwork and determination is what athletic competition is really all about. The lessons learned on the playing field are the ones that carry us the farthest in life. Amid moments of great triumph lay the seeds of defeat and humility. With the pleasure of success in the moment, comes the pain of dedication, discipline and learning to endure. He who has not felt the pure joy of the "second wind" has not truly lived in the moment. He who has felt the power of disapointment and frustration on the field of battle understands the essence of humility and the need to carry on.
As parents and fans, we watch with a critical eye and sometimes a sharp tongue. We need all remember the importance of being a good example for our students and our children. Judge Not lest you be judged. Praise first, criticize never, nurture always. Celebrate when they succeed and sympathize when they don't. The lessons they learn and the examples they remember become the traditions of our community.
This site will continue to grow with photos and editorial content during the 2000 - 2001 school year.
